THE EDITORIAL STANDARD

Short answers.
Long-term trust.

STOP THAT! is an independent guide to controlling unwanted notifications, auto-play, pop-ups and other app behaviors. It is not an app that changes device settings remotely.

How answers are selected

We start with official documentation from the relevant operating-system vendor or app provider. An entry is published only when we can show a specific set of user actions or explain precisely why the controls may not exist for every app.

What the status labels mean

  • Can disable: linked official documentation describes an applicable switch.
  • Can reduce: the documented setting helps, but it may not completely eliminate the behavior.
  • No confirmed switch: the official source does not establish a reliable selective control for the specific complaint.

What “source reviewed” means

The date refers to our review of the linked documentation, not hands-on testing on every device or version. The original guide set was reviewed October 31, 2026; the added guides were reviewed November 1, 2026. Settings vary by region, app rollout, mobile carrier and device maker. A status is not a guarantee that the exact menu will be present for you.

Not a live AI support agent

Search is local, deterministic natural-language matching against a curated collection. There is no generative model inventing a menu path. Sources are not continuously refreshed in real time; guides become due for manual review after 90 days. Reachable documentation does not prove an unchanged settings path. The current release includes a manual source ledger, editorial change log, 90-day review queue, and source-link audit script; app menus still require editorial or real-device rechecking.

How to contribute

Use Request a fix to describe an issue. If the optional community database is not configured, the form copies your report instead of pretending to submit it. There are no made-up popularity scores, user reviews, or first-hand testing claims.

Independence

Brand names are used descriptively and belong to their owners. STOP THAT! is not endorsed by any app or operating-system company mentioned in its instructions.
